5 Reasons Working for a PPEC is Rewarding

Providing a Helping Hand for Special Needs Children and Families.

Are you interested in working for a PPEC? Here are 5 reasons working for a PPEC is rewarding.

What is a PPEC?

PPEC stands for Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care. A PPEC center is a licensed, non-residential, day treatment program prescribed by a physician for medically complex and technologically dependent children. Care is provided by a team of skilled pediatric professionals.

Benefits of working at a PPEC include:

1. Building a bond with the patients

Working at a PPEC allows you to build strong bonds with the patients since you are with them often. PPECs allow you to watch and assist with the patients growth and milestones which creates trust and companionship between the two.

2. All day shifts

PPECs are open during the day therefore, there are no night shifts.

3. Improving quality of life

One of the goals of a PPEC is to limit the amount of hospital visits each child has. This is done by the nurses providing individualized, quality care to each patient in a daycare-like setting.

4. Continued learning

Each patient is different at PPECs which mean the nurses are constantly learning how to provide the best care. Every nurse learns the newest technology, methods, and understands each medical condition. Improving their personal and professional growth!

5. Working in a team setting

At PPECs it is important to work as a team and communicate with each other in order to provide the best care to the patients. This improves skills like team building, communication, and leadership qualities.

Our goal is to enhance the development of each child through collaborative relationships between families, physicians, nurses, and therapists. This holistic approach to care is carried out in an environment that allows the child to engage in social interactions with their peers. This results in thriving children, well-positioned to achieve their greatest potential. We also offer transportation at no cost and provide nutritious meals throughout the day.

What sets us apart is that we care for and treat every child like family. We have passion in our hearts for our children and a desire to see them succeed.
