5 Reasons Parachute Games are Beneficial for Children with Special Medical Needs

Providing a Helping Hand for Special Needs Children and Families.

Are you curious about how parachute games are beneficial for children with special medical needs? We explain five reasons parachute games are helpful for your child.

What games can you play with parachutes?

There are a multitude of games that can be played with a parachute. The game we are playing in the video is a pass-and-roll game with a ball but there are so many games out there. A quick Google search will help you find the best one for your child.

Where can I find a parachute?

Amazon has everything these days, so we suggest this parachute. It also depends on how big you want it because they come in different sizes.

You may want to purchase a ball or beanbags depending on what game you have in mind.

Benefits of playing parachute games for children with special medical needs include:

1. Team building

Parachute games are great for team building because you must play with others. It helps children understand the importance of working as a team to accomplish a goal.

2. Improved communication

Since this activity involves working with others, communication is key. Some of the parachute games require different colors to be shouted or for a ball to be passed to another person, so a child needs to communicate to play the game efficiently. If the child is unable to communicate, it will help them learn.

3. Problem solving

There is a lot of problem-solving in some of the parachute games. For example, trying to get a ball to the other side of the parachute is more challenging than it sounds. This helps a child find a solution to the obstacle at hand.

4. Friendship building

Parachute games involve playing with other children so it naturally helps build friendships.

5. Develop gross motor skills

Parachute games help develop gross motor skills as a child uses large muscles to play the games and shake the parachute. Playing with a parachute can help build upper body strength and muscle tone.

Parachute Games at Tender Care PPEC

At Tender Care, we encourage the children to play in therapy. Playing with a parachute and a ball makes therapy more fun for the child and helps them learn faster. We play games with balls to help them improve their hand-eye coordination skill as well.
