What is a PPEC?
Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) centers allow Medicaid-eligible children with medically-complex conditions to receive continual medical care in a non-residential setting. When approved, children can attend a PPEC for up to 12 hours a day and receive nursing services, therapies, and care.
Who qualifies for our services?

What are the benefits of a PPEC center?

What is unique about Tender Care?
We are the first independently owned PPEC in the State of Florida with our initial center opening in 1988. This means we have an abundance of experience and knowledge in providing loving care to this special pediatric population. We have 6 Tender Care PPEC centers throughout Florida, with our newest facility located in Lake Park.
Our goal is to enhance the development of each child through collaborative relationships between families, physicians, nurses, and therapists. This holistic approach to care is carried out in an environment that allows the child to engage in social interactions with their peers. This results in thriving children, well-positioned to achieve their greatest potential.
What sets us apart is that we care for and treat every child like family. We have passion in our hearts for our children and a desire to see them succeed.
Do you have various therapy services for my child?
Our Therapy Program provides physical, occupational, and speech, therapies by qualified therapists. While children are receiving therapies, our skilled professionals can provide information and training to the child’s caregiver and/or family member. Our therapists also help facilitate equipment needed in your home. Therapy is for children that are approved for our services with qualifying insurance.
Do you provide transportation?
Yes, Tender Care provides non-emergency medical transportation to all children who attend our PPEC centers. Our vans are specially equipped and wheelchair accessible to make sure your child is safe and comfortable. During the trip, your children are accompanied by nursing personnel.
What food service do you provide?
Tender Care participates in Florida’s Child Care Food Program (CCFP) to provide your child with the best possible nutritional options while they are in our care. The CCFP helps childcare facilities implement “best practices” to ensure children have access to a variety of nutritious foods for healthy growth and to reduce obesity risk. We provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day.
What if my child gets sick?
If your child becomes ill while at the center, we will contact you, and the child will be assessed for the best course of action. You may have to come to pick your child up at that time to take them to the doctor if necessary.
